Malta is heading into a new era, and it’s crucial that you take the lead. We’re aiming for a future where our communities are vibrant and genuine, not downtrodden and lifeless. A place where work pays and inspires our youth to make the country more beautiful.
Right now, things might seem bleak and discouraging. But even though I sometimes feel angry and frustrated, I haven’t lost hope—not even a little bit. Europe too can help in making Malta more beautiful. With my experience as the Secretary General of one of the four largest parties in the European Parliament for over six years, I know what we need to do to achieve this.

Maltese Parliamentarians: licensed to lie and to be dishonest....despite the ArchbishopLast week the Standards Commissioner decreed that, unlike ministers, MPs are not explicitly bound by an obligation of honesty under their code of ethics. Yesterday, this concept was reinforced by the Commissioner. He stressed "that the obligation of honesty is found only in the ministers’ code of ethics. For some inexplicable reason, this obligation was not included in the code of ethics for Members of Parliament".A few minutes before Archbishop Scicluna had contradicted the Standards Commissioner: "Political speeches should be built on honesty and respect", he said. Kollu ghaxejn, Eċċellenza. It is now official: MPs can lie and be dishonest because they cannot be sanctioned. ... See MoreSee Less
Finally, the omerta' about the Gozo mafia begins to be broken. Finally, a Maltese newspaper, Malta Today, has had the courage to report about the mafia "faida" going on in Gozo. It reports that "a prominent businessman had found a bullet hole in his car last year. That incident was kept hush and not reported to the police".Last week "the same leading contractor was targeted while in his vehicle. No one was injured and the victim did not file a police report in an attempt to avoid scrutiny by law enforcement agencies". "Meanwhile on 15 August 2025, an unknown person is understood to have shot at a fork lifter while being driven on a public street in Rabat, Gozo, by an employee of the same contractor. This incident was reported to the police but sources close to the investigation told MaltaToday progress has been hampered by witnesses, who claim to have seen or heard nothing". It seems that the mafia faida "is between two contractors who had been business partners, along with other prominent Gozitan businesspersons, in companies involved in concrete production and quarrying". Robert Abela is very happy to be financed by meals organised by Gozitan contractors, while the PN is all upbeat because it is now led by a young, energetic and handsome Gozitan leader, and we in Malta dream about beating Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Final. It is better that we all wake up to reality and that Angelo Gafa' starts truly investigating the Gozitan business mafia that conditions politics and the financial world in Malta. If Gafa' phones me up I can give him the names of the two contractors (apart from other activities) who Malta Today seems to be refering to.In the meantime, read the MT article here. ...
